About the Event
Come to a talk by socially conscious artist and body acceptance activist Martina Maya-Callen.
Utilizing the transformative power of art, Martina Maya-Callen works to celebrate bodies and dismantle the unrealistic beauty standards in society and started a global movement of acceptance. Love your vessel started as one eating disorder warrior's journey but has catapulted into an international social movement. This is an Eating Disorder Awareness Art Exhibition during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, February 22nd-28th. This is the story of an eating disorder warrior's journey to self-acceptance and self-love. As a collaborator for the National Eating Disorder Association, resources to the NEDA helpline and screening tool are listed. The creative educational programs propel awareness of disordered eating and body acceptance. Eating disorders hold the second-highest mental health mortality rate in the United States and this type of comprehensive creative programming is essential.
Martina Maya-Callen (she/her) is an internationally recognized artist, activist, and educator.
